DEHRADUN: The Rishikesh-Badrinath national road (NH-58) was blocked again on Tuesday morning after a landslide occurred near Baba Ashram in Karnaprayag in Chamoli district, bringing traffic to an end.
Staff from relevant agencies and departments have been commissioned to clean up debris and restore traffic, an official with the disaster management department said.
Meanwhile, the Karnaprayag-Gwaldam state road was opened to traffic on Tuesday. The Rishikesh-Kedarnath national road was opened to traffic as far as Gaurikund.
More than 150 roads, mainly village link roads, remained closed for the third day in a row. The authorities have stepped up their efforts to open them.
In Pauri district, at least 64 link roads and one national road are blocked, while 18 village roads in Champawat, 62 village link roads in Chamoli, six roads in Nainital district, 15 link roads in Almora, 14 in Tehri Garhwal, six border roads and 13 village roads in Pithoragarh district and 10 village roads and a national road in Rudraprayag are blocked, according to the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) .
Meanwhile, the rain has subsided in the state. The weather is dry in most places.
