Dräger drug screening machines earn top performance ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

HOUSTON – Dräger, an international leader in medical technology and safety, is proud to announce that the Dräger DrugTest 5000 (DDT5000) and the Dräger DrugCheck 3000 (DDC3000) have received top ratings for overall performance in a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) assessment report. The GHSA Board of Directors approved the use of research funding from the National Cooperative Research and Evaluation Program for NHTSA to evaluate portable oral drug testing devices in a laboratory environment control.
The objective of the report, “Evaluation of On-Site Oral Drug Testing Technology”, was to evaluate oral drug field test devices to assess their accuracy, reliability, performance. compared to the manufacturer’s specifications, their sensitivity to interference and the consumables’ resistance to extremes. temperature and humidity.
Two previous studies that tested oral fluid testing devices were used to determine the testing scope and cutoff concentrations for the assessment of NHTSA. âThe Roadside Testing Assessmentâ (ROSITA), which recommends sensitivity and specificity greater than 90% and precision greater than 95%, and the âDriving Under the Influence of Drugs, Alcohol and Medicinesâ (DRUID) project, which recommends more than 80% of sensitivity, specificity and precision. The Dräger DDT5000 and DDC3000 were the only devices that met the performance requirements of ROSITA and DRUID.
