NHAI makes drone survey mandatory for all national road projects



The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Wednesday mandated the use of drones for the monthly video recording of all national road projects during their various stages of development, construction, operation and operation. maintenance.

NHAI asked contractors and dealers to video record the drone in the presence of the supervision consultant and upload the comparison for the current month and last month to NHAI’s “Data Lake” portal, capturing all developments. related to the project in one month.

The supervision consultants will analyze these video recordings and provide their input / comments in the digital monthly progress reports covering various aspects of the project development.

“NHAI project managers will undertake a monthly drone survey from the date of signing the contract agreement until the start of construction of the project at the site and also upon completion of the project. NHAI will also undertake a monthly drone survey in all developed projects where NHAI is responsible for operation and maintenance, ”the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in a press briefing.

In addition, the mandatory deployment of a Network Investigation Vehicle (NSV) to conduct a road condition survey on national highways will improve the overall quality of highways, as NSV uses the latest survey techniques such as ‘a high resolution digital camera for 360 degree images, Laser road profilometer and other advanced technologies for the measurement of road surface degradation.
