Tennessee Highway Patrol Accepting Applications for January Troop Cadet Class | WJHL
NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WJHL) – Applications are now being accepted for the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Cadet Class of January 2022.
In the classroom, cadets will participate in a 16 week and 10 week side academy as part of training to become state soldiers.
According to a THP statement, the daily services of a soldier include: assisting the public, criminal and traffic law enforcement, motorcycle traffic patrol, accident investigation and reconstruction, handling the K-9 and more.
Both men and women interested in applying can do so in line. Applications are accepted until 11:59 p.m. Central Time on August 31. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, have U.S. citizenship, and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Once approved by the Human Resources Department, applicants will be notified of their qualification status via email and will be required to complete a survey.
According to THP, it is expected that the appointments for the high agility test and interviews will begin around the end of September. These will take place at the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Training Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
If hired, individuals must obtain a valid Tennessee driver’s license prior to graduation from the cadet class. Applicants must also pass a level two background check, which includes a credit check and a polygraph test. A drug test, medical and psychological examination must also be taken.
The starting salary for a cadet while in school is $ 3,216 per month, before increasing to $ 3,619 per month after graduation. Each year, novice soldiers earn $ 43,248, with an increase after 10 years.
