Two dead and one seriously injured in accidents

A Friday afternoon crash on Interstate 10 left one teenager dead and another seriously injured in Jefferson County.
According to a press release from Florida Highway PatrolAt around 4 p.m. on Friday, a 17-year-old was driving east with an 18-year-old passenger near milepost 217 when his vehicle pulled off the road and struck a tree on the south shoulder.
“The driver was declared dead at the scene,” said the FHP. “The passenger was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.”
The FHP is not disclosing the names of the victims, citing Marsy’s Law, a 2018 victim rights amendment approved by voters in Florida.

FHP reported that the driver and passenger, both from Tallahassee, were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The department also responded to a fatal motorcycle accident on Saturday on National Highway 12 in Gadsden County, which left a 60-year-old man dead from Quincy.

According to an incident report, at 10:35 p.m., the man was driving alone just west of Camellia Drive and entered a left turn.
âFor unknown reasons, the motorcycle pulled out of the taxiway to the right onto the paved emergency shoulder and struck the guardrail,â said FHP. “The rider was thrown over the guardrail and came to a stop in the ditch on the north shoulder of State Road 12.”
FHP said the motorcycle continued west for about 100 feet.
The man, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead instantly.
