Woman killed in crash on Interstate 680 in Pacheco – CBS San Francisco

PACHECO (CBS SF) – A woman who was a passenger in a car was killed in a solo car crash on Interstate Highway 680 in Pacheco on Wednesday morning, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The accident occurred at approximately 10:25 a.m. along the northbound lanes of I-680, just south of National Highway 4.

CHP said a 2003 Nissan 350z lost control and veered traffic lanes towards the concrete center divider, then returned through all lanes in the concrete noise barrier.

A 20-year-old Milpitas resident who was a passenger in the car was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 22-year-old driver – also from Milpitas – was taken to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek with serious injuries, said the CHP.

Their identities would be disclosed by the Contra Costa County Sheriff Coroner’s Office after notifying their relatives.

The CHP said it was not immediately known whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. Anyone who saw the collision or the events leading up to it was asked to contact the CHP Contra Costa in Martinez, (925) 646-4980.
